Suspect Apprehended In Westchester While Breaking Into Unlocked Cars

Police investigators have apprehended a man who was busted breaking into cars overnight in Westchester.

The Yonkers Police Department announced that city resident Hector Hernandez was arrested early on Monday, Aug. 26, after being busted in the area of McLean Avenue attempting to rummage through unlocked cars in the area.

Police said that Hernandez was taken into custody and charged with larceny and criminal tampering. 

To help area residents avoid becoming victims, the police department has issued a handful of tips:

  • Always keep valuables out of sight or in the trunk;
  • Never leave valuables in unattended vehicles;
  • Always lock your vehicle, and;
  • Notify the police of any suspicious activity.
